The last week I was in a training camp in Portugal. It was really nice to escape the winter conditions here in Switzerland and improve my orienteering skills early in the season. Also the competitions of POM 2010 were really a good start into the new year even if my technical performance there was rather poor. Anyway it was nice weather, good running conditions and nice emotions from Vancouver in the evenings.
Our trainingcamp in Portugal started already on Tuesday before the competitions, so we got some O trainings to get used to the terrain. My main focus was to improve my compass skills and I think I did a good step there.
Also physically I cannot complain at the moment, the first competitions in POM I could really push and run fast, too bad that a lot of mistakes slowed me down. But with the next trainingcamp (in Italy) starting already in a few days, there is lots of opportunities to eliminate these issues.
Finally I want to congratulate the Swiss medal winners in Vancouver, it was really nice seeing Simi, Didier and Dario impress us and their Norwegian/Austrian rivals :-)
